Peer Review Process

Overview

The Voyage Journal of Scientific Research and Exploration (VJSRE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, transparent, fair, and timely peer review process. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes editorial screening followed by a Double Anonymous (Double-Blind) Peer Review to ensure academic quality, originality, integrity, and relevance.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript is evaluated by the Editorial Office to determine whether it:

  • Falls within the aims and scope of the journal.

  • Complies with the journal's submission guidelines and formatting requirements.

  • Meets basic standards of academic writing and scientific quality.

  • Includes all required declarations and ethical approvals where applicable.

  • Successfully passes plagiarism screening using appropriate similarity detection software.

Manuscripts that do not meet these preliminary requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or declined without external review.

Double Anonymous Peer Review

VJSRE follows a Double Anonymous (Double-Blind) Peer Review system. In this process:

  • The identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers.

  • The identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors.

  • Manuscripts are anonymized before being sent for review.

  • Reviewers are selected based on their subject expertise, research experience, and absence of conflicts of interest.

This review model helps ensure an impartial, objective, and unbiased evaluation of every manuscript.

Reviewer Selection

Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with recognized expertise in the relevant field. Additional reviewers may be invited when required by the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Evaluate the originality and scientific merit of the manuscript.

  • Assess the methodology, analysis, interpretation, and conclusions.

  • Identify ethical concerns, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or research misconduct.

  • Provide constructive comments that assist authors in improving their work.

  • Submit their recommendations within the requested review period.

Editorial Decision

After considering the reviewers' reports, the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Handling Editor makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Request major revisions

  • Reject

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to make the final publication decision based on the reviewers' recommendations, editorial judgment, and the journal's publication standards.

Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests should address each reviewer comment carefully and submit:

  • A revised manuscript.

  • A detailed point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to VJSRE are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers shall not disclose, discuss, copy, or use unpublished material for personal or professional advantage.

Conflict of Interest

Editors and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest before accepting a manuscript for review. Individuals with conflicts of interest will not participate in the editorial decision-making process for that manuscript.

Authors are also required to disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their research.

Ethical Standards

VJSRE is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. Editors, reviewers, and authors are expected to conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, fairness, and professionalism throughout the publication process.

The journal reserves the right to investigate allegations of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, unethical research practices, or other forms of publication misconduct. Appropriate actions, including rejection, correction, retraction, or notification of the authors' institutions, may be taken when necessary.

Review Timeline

The journal aims to provide an efficient editorial process while maintaining rigorous peer review standards.

  • Initial editorial screening: 3–7 working days

  • Peer review process: 2–6 weeks

  • Revision period (authors): 2–4 weeks

  • Final editorial decision: Within 1–2 weeks after receipt of the revised manuscript

Actual processing times may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.

Appeals

Authors who believe that a manuscript has been rejected based on a factual or procedural error may submit a written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals are reviewed independently, and the Editor-in-Chief's decision following the appeal is final.

Publication Decision

Only manuscripts that successfully complete the editorial assessment, plagiarism screening, and double anonymous peer review process, and fully comply with the journal's ethical and editorial standards, will be accepted for publication in the Voyage Journal of Scientific Research and Exploration (VJSRE).
